John 4:34-38
34 "My food," said Jesus, "is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. 35 Do you not say, 'Four months more and then the harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. 36 Even now the reaper draws his wages, even now he harvests the crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. 37 Thus the saying 'One sows and another reaps' is true. 38I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor."

Now is the time for the harvest. Lord let my fingers be nimble for the harvest. I pray I that I am sensitive to the Spirit and will move when he beckons.

Just an aside,
John 4:14

14but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life."

I wonder if with this eternal water you could make eternal coffee.

Peace,
Stephanie

4:14
"The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life."
The spring of water that wells up to eternal life is not a little spring of water or a cute little water spout. I learned that the NIV is inadequate when it says "welling up." The greek word is used to tell of the formerly lame man, in Acts 3:8, leaping up. It is never used elsewhere in Scripture to describe the action of water. The thought is that the Spirit of God is working VIOLENTLY within a person who believes in Jesus Christ the Son.
"The life that Jesus gives is no stagnant thing. It is much more than merely the entrance into a new state of being- that of being saved instead of lost." The life within believers goes into fervent action. "Life has a way of begetting life." - Leon Morris
Praise God for the Spirit that is violently working within us to fight against temptation and to give us Life! We serve no sissy-God.

4:7 When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, "Will you give me a drink?"

This may not be the point of this story but it makes me wonder; if Jesus aproached me in a similar situation, what would he ask me? Would it go like this:
The average looking, out of shape, bushy browed Hoosier (quit scratching your head I don't know what it means either) came to the vending machines to get a bottled water, Jesus said to him, "Are you kidding me? I have brought you people from wells of rain and dew to fountains that shoot it in your mouth for you and you are going to pay a $1.25 of my money for some that comes with a pretty label?"

4:28-29 Then leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town & said to the people, "Come see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Christ?"

Here a woman dropped what she was doing to go straight to the people to tell of a man she WONDERS if is the Christ. I pray that I do a better job letting nothing, at any time, become more important than taking advantage of an opportunity to tell of a man I have the blessing of KNOWING is Christ!

Happy Valentine's Day,
Jeremy

4:7 - ....Jesus said to her, "Will you give me a drink?"

What has Jesus asked me for this week? Have I been quiet and still enough to hear Him? Have I heard and been to busy to be bothered to give Him what He asked?

4:38 - "I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor" We never know how our lives will affect someone else. We may be the only Jesus some people see. What "Jesus" do they see in me and what kind of harvest am I leaving for others to reap? Will they get fat and sassy because I am leaving behind a field of dirt???

4:50 - .....The man took Jesus at his word and departed. I love the "." (period) there. That was it. Jesus said it, and the man did it. No quivering, questioning or arguing. GREAT FAITH!!! WOW!!!

I pray forgiveness for not listening, for not planting a harvest and for having little faith. Build in me all the things I lack.

Love you all!
