10:4 "...his sheep follow him because they know his voice."
Sheep are pretty stupid, but they know their shepherd's voice. I'd say that's pretty smart. I wish I was that stupid...that the only voice I heard was that of my shepherd. Instead, I hear and follow other voices and in the end sometimes do stupid things.
I think we can learn from sheep. They tend to follow the leader. We should surround ourselves with other sheep and encourage, uplift and support each other and follow each other straight into the sheep pen of our Savior!
10:28 "......no one can snatch them out of my hand." That is sooooo cool! I love that verse! I have given my life to God. Even when I sin, even in my past, when I turned from him and did my own thing, I was doing my own thing "in the palm of his hand." I'm not saying he approved of it, he didn't. But, like the prodical son, he waited patiently for my return! I am his forever. He is my safety, security and light.
Thank you Father for your voice. I pray you keep me in tune to hear only you! And thank you for your huge loving, safe hands that hold me!
10:10 The thief comes only to steal, kill & destroy; I have come that they may have life, & have it to the full.
STEAL, KILL, & DESTROY! Not just tease, prank, & aggrivate. But don't we sometimes underestimate what this world throws at us? I know in my life that lack of respect for the severity of why the thief comes, explains my past repetitive backsliding!
Heavenly Father let me NEVER again fall into the trap of underestimating this world and its ways!
3 The watchman opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. 5 But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger's voice."
But they will never follow a stranger, they will run away from a stranger.
Father, help me to know your voice. Make me deaf to all the distractions and to only focus on your voice. in Christ name, Amen
