18:17 "You are not one of his disciples are you?" the girl at the door asked Peter. He replied, "I am not."
Every time I'm not acting the way I should around someone I feel afterwards like I just flunked an audition! Everytime I have an opportunity to be used to point someone to God and I don't it's as if they've asked me those similar questions Peter faces a few times; and when I miss it it's like I'm saying, "I am not!"
That's a horrible feeling I hope to never feel again. Although chances are I'm going to mess up here and there, I still pray not to. I want to say, "YES I AM!" I want it to appear to be a huge neon sign sticking up out of my forehead, "YES I AM!" for them to see, before they even ask!

This is the kinda stuff I really struggle with. Jesus was arrested we know how the story plays out. But there is so much more here. Jesus, this man that they had put all their hope and faith in. This man they had called God was now arrested and the future was uncertain if he is gone well what does that make us. He was our God, our savior, he was supposed to bring restoration instead he is being questioned and beaten like a mere man. The bigger part of my mind says they knew he was God he told them what was gonna happen so why didn't they just hang on, wait it out, why all the drama. Then God makes it personal. You know I am God, you know how the story the plays out WHY didn't YOU wait on me. Wow, how many times in my life when being a christian got rough or hard did I deny him. Through all my rebellion I knew he was God but I didn't want to wait for his timing or I thought I knew what was best for me, why did I need God. Father, Help me to wait on your timing, to seek you in all situations not just the easy ones. Change my heart, renew my mind and focus my eyes on you. in Christ name, Amen
6-When Jesus said, "I am he," they drew back and fell to the ground.
This really shows us the power of Jesus! I think they were shocked that a mere man could hold such majesty.
18-It was cold, and the servants and officials stood around a fire they had made to keep warm. Peter also was standing with them, warming himself.
YIKES! How many times have I gone to the enemy's camp and stood around, accepting what they had to offer?
31-Pilate said, "Take him yourselves and judge him by your own law." "But we have no right to execute anyone," the Jews objected.
It is clear they wanted an cruxificion, not a fair trial!
39-But it is your custom for me to release to you one prisoner at the time of the Passover. Do you want me to release 'the king of the Jews'?"
Pilate askes them - Do you want me to release 'the king of the Jews'?" - I wonder if he believed? Some people have an minute encounter with Christ and believe and some it takes an earth shattering encounter. I wonder if Pilate believed.....
Father - Keep me safe when I am in the camp of the enemy and help me to live so that a minute encounter with someone will reveal you to them.
