John 17:20-26

20"My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: 23I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. 24"Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. 25"Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. 26I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them."

I think I read this 3 or 4 times today and all I keep coming back to is what an amazing love letter. Jesus prayed for all of us when he knew his time was short, he took the time to pray for me. To think I have actually made the excuse that i just don't have time to pray oh my, I guess that is out the window.
Peace,
Stephanie

1-After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: "Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you.

"Father, the time has come." This small statement spoke volumes to me. In this small statement, is the reason for Christ's birth and life. So that He could die for the world, for me, so that I can have eternal life and live a life to bring glory to the Father.

4-I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do.

Even Jesus had work to do. Why do I think I can "skate" through my life, do a little here and a little there? If I would stop long enough and listen to the voice of God, I would find that I have not even come close to beginning the job He has for me.

20 - 26 - Stephanie - I so agree with you! This gave me goose bumps! Jesus took time to pray for me. From scripture, and we don't know the time frame, but he was moments or a few days away from being arrested and dying a horrific death and He prayed for me. Shame on me for not spending every spare second I have reading His word, doing His work and praying for others. There is no excuse to not be in ceaseless prayer!

God help me to remember this passage! I desire to be a prayer warrior and always think of prayer as my initial response and not my last ditch effort to have you come in and save the day!
