7:27 Her house is the road to the grave. Her bedroom is the den of death.
This got me thinking. Just like the gentleman shared with us today that it's sometimes the things we assume to be acceptable as long as controlled that eventually become traps for us. This doesn't say that actually laying down with her is the road to the grave it says that her house is. Simply being there is. To me this says to my heart that being in the place where sin is the theme is already "that road!" Then her bedroom was the den death. Not even her bed or what takes place on it, but the actual room.
As I look back on my struggles with Meryck's mother it was the opportunities I allowed the trap to take hold by being on that "road" that made it so hard to escape! Allowing the steps that led up to the shameful acts made it a much more potent trap! It kinda seems like common sense then that eliminating the road to the grave keeps you from reaching that "den of death," which in turn would keep us from reaching that "grave!"
Even with these steps to elimiate our traps I will continue to pray for the strength to remain obedient, to rest in the faithfulness that has another road given as a gift that NEVER leads to a grave!
I am not sure where everybody went. I feel like we are in this room by ourselves and it is really quiet. Is this awkward? jk Good insight on 7:27. You actually found great meaning in it. I just thought it sounded cool. I thought the picture that is painted in chapter 7 is so vivid. I can see it all very well. When I read it I felt like I was peering through the window and watching it all unfold (7:6). 7:22-23 "All at once he followed her like an ox going to the slaughter, like a deer stepping into a noose till an arrow pierces his liver, like a bird darting into a snare, little knowing it will cost him his life." The imagery is so real. I feel like I watch this happen to people everyday. What is sad is that culture celebrates the slaughter. Little do those who celebrate the slaughter know that it will cost them their life... Reading this passage and reading your comments remind me that we are in this together, Jeremy. All who call Jesus Christ their Lord are walking the same road, and we are to help each other along the way so that we do not go down the road to the grave. "Be self controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings." 1 Peter 5:8-9

And so we press on together, friend.
