4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.

I love this verse! This verse says to me that I am no accident. There are no chances with God. The fact that I am here, married to Walter, working where I work, being part of the Rockway family. Because I sought God in prayer and He lead me in these decisions, brings me great comfort. I know that I am in God's will because I have given my life to Him.

7-8 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.

Grace that has been lavished on us! How awesome is that?? God's grave is sufficient for me. It's amazing grace! Where would I be without grace.

God, thank you for grace! Thank you for choosing me. I am so unworthy of your love and grace! But, I am so thankful for it! I can not imagine how life would be without grace, understanding and forgiveness!

Ephesians 1:15-21

Thanksgiving and Prayer
15 For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, 16 I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. 17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18 I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, 20 which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.

This is one of my favorite scriptures to pray for people. 2 of my favorite scripture prayers are in Ephesians.

Love your comments, Danna. I love verse 4 too! The part that stood out to me this time was "to be holy and blameless in his sight." The Enemy is so good at persuading me that I am not holy and blameless. I don't think of myself like that. Thanks be to God that I can say that now because of Jesus Christ.
Another idea that stood out to me was the pleasure of God. My God receives pleasure and joy when it comes to our standing with him. He is pleased with where I stand with him.
And the picture that Paul paints of our God is beautiful. The God I see in Ephesians- He blesses us, He is loving, He is pleased with His Son and with His children, he gives freely, he redeems, he forgives, he lavishes grace, he is wise, he understands, he reveals his will (which he certainly does not have to), he unifies, he does all things so we can praise him (for that is when we are most satisfied), he saves, he guarantees salvation, he is powerful... Our God is incredible.

1:11 In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will,

To me this is BIG. I mean I've heard it tons of times and even read it several too, but how often do I forget that EVERYTHING part! I definetly need to do a better job of resting comfortably in the fact that knowing that is part of my surrender!

Just a little bit on verse 16; how awesome is it to be a part of something like that? Some may have experienced this before, but for me TRULY appreciating the people God has brought into my life on the level of thanking Him for them is a very NEW blessing! I've prayed for people lots of times, but I love where he says, "I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers." (v.16)

1:19-21 and his uncomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in heavinly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.

The FOR US part is one I seriously underestimate in my life. I don't know what that says about my belief, but I know I need to do a better job of KNOWING the CERTAINTY of that power is NOT limited at all. I am very limited, but part of all things being possible in him would most certainly mean that in him HIS power is not only possible but ASSURED! I have a feeling that once my heart truly grasps that, not just wants to grasp it, that's when God will truly use me to amaze even myself! (But for His glory of course)

"Perfect Push-ups" can't compare,
